"This book is a collection of essays by eminent scholars from all over India and research students from the Academy of International Studies on the political, economic and cultural links between Central Asia and South Asia. These include articles that present a political overview of the entire region as well as focus on relationships between specific countries in Central and South Asia, particularly Pakistan, Afghanistan and India. The many initiative on the Silk Road by the US, China Central Asia are discussed in detail and compared to each other. Paintings of Vasily, Vereschagin and Nikolai Roerich; the theses of post-Soviet Tadjik cinema, composers and compositions who have linked Uzbekistan and India; the image of the cities of tashkent and Kolkata in the works of Dina Rubina and Amit Chaudhari and the influence of globalozation on media in Central and South Asia - These are the many themes that this book examines in detail."
