"U.P. History Congress, since its inception, is engaged in promoting the writing
of secular and scientific history of India. The history of this vast country can be
written only when the micro studies are available for analysis and synthesis of data in
broader framework. It is also necessary that data collected on the regional basis should
be interpreted at a national level. Regarding this purpose the organization holds its
annual session and publishes its proceedings.
The present Volume has come out of the deliberations held during the 27th session of
U.P. History Congress held at MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly on 6th-7th November
2016. This Volume tries to highlight some aspect of the history of northern India with
special reference to Modern Uttar Pradesh. Through this Volume we have tried to provide an
avenue to a large number of scholars who are working on multifarious aspects of the
history of the region and are mainly based as the various institutions of northeren India.
We feel satisfied that the U.P. History Congress has been able to attract a number of
scholars with some data from local respositories and private collections all over the
state. They have also tried to relate this data to there respective areas of research. The
regular publication of the selected papers presented at the annual session of UPHC in the
form of a Volume regularly has been a source of strength for our organization."
